Out In the Cold

[Kaida Shade]

He looked away, suddenly finding the floor very interesting. "I'm a monster. I mean, I don't look like one, but when I get scared, or angry, I just... snap. I don't even remember afterwards, not anything more than..." He cut off, shuddering with revulsion.

[Nami]

She nodded with a concerned look. "Well if it's any consolation... I haven't the foggiest idea what I really am. My race is just an outer shell with the real creature inside. But releasing me from it would be to the effect you just described. I'd black out and snap. Seems we at least have that in common..." She offered a giggle. "Nice to know it's something besides the hair colour!"

[Kaida Shade]

He chuckled and smiled. "Yeah. Odd when strangers are more like you than your parents eh?"

[Nami]

She giggled. "I know the feeling. My sis has blue hair, brother has brown... Mum had pink like me and Dad had brown. Saki's the oddball I guess. But still, it's weird when neither of your siblings even resemble you."

[Kaida Shade]

"My sister's blonde and my brother has black hair. Both my parents are blonde. Genetics in our family is bloody weird. Personally, I reckon I'm adopted or something, but both my siblings are shapeshifters too. A lot better at it though."

[Nami]

She smiled. "Wow... yeah it sounds like both of our families have fucked up genetics eh? Oh well at least it lends some unique appearance eh?" Nami looked down to the pot of noodles and prodded one with a fork. Seeming satisfied that they were nearly done she went to get a strainer.

[Kaida Shade]

Neil leaned against the table and licked his lips. Yay, food!

[Nami]

She strained them and then divided the noodles into two bowls. Then Nami seasoned them to her approval with pepper, salt, and various other nice-smelling spices. She went into the fridge and pulled out a plate of shrimp that still had plenty on it since she hadn't eaten many of them during her previous meal. She put those into the remaining boiling water to heat them up then strained those too and mixed them up in the noodles. Nami smiled and handed one bowl to Neil and also a utensil for eating. "There. Food!" she said warmly.

(lol I'm a horrid chef myself, so forgive me for not specifying ^^; *failure* I don't even know what would be used to season noodles)

(Dw I only know the kind that comes in a packet with the nice little sachet of seasoning)
Neil grinned and attacked his food with much gusto. Yeah, he was hungry.

[Nami]

She giggled seeing how hungry he actually was then settled down to her own meal. Nami was silent for a bit as she enjoyed the taste of the noodles and shrimp. After a while the silence bothered her. "Much better, eh? No more empty stomach. Want anything to drink? They're kind of spicy."

[Kaida Shade]

"Nah, I'm good for now." He slurped a noodle and it smacked him in the face. He wiped off the sauce and looked irritable. "These are fantastic. Can I get the recipe for these?"

[Nami]

"Sure. I'll be sure to write it down for you!" she agreed. "For the spices I often just wing it according to personal taste so it's definitely tweak-able. Want to know what I did for the shrimp too or would you prefer to just do that yourself?" Nami wasn't one to speak with her mouth full so she spoke in between slurping noodles.

[Kaida Shade]

He licked a spot from the side of his mouth before replying. "The shrimp are great, I'd like to know. I don't get to cook a lot but I do like to do it."

[Nami]

"Alright, not a problem then," she nodded. Nami blushed a little. "To admit something, I have the habit of cooking them in alcoholic beverages. The shrimp gets flavored and the alcohol itself burns off but it still sounds odd to hear."

[Kaida Shade]

Neil shook his head. "Nah, cooking with alcohol is quite common back home, especially stuff like wine in sauces." Growing up surrounded by French food had given Neil quite a nose for this kind of thing. He popped a shrimp in his mouth and chewed slowly. "Now that you mention it I can kind of taste it."
