In the sunshine the eyes glitter

Perhaps behind gazes that linger
A pitch blackness waits,
Darker than smoldering coal.
Silence may hang in darker hours
Where the wind meets up with life
Though the ends sometimes
may justify the beginning,
Is death really immune to strife?
